In the fading days of the Age of Sorrows, a circle of Lawgivers sought the power to wrest control of the Realm from the terrestrial exalted and create a new Solar Deliberative to govern creation.  Determined to amass as much power in as little time as possible they looked to the ancient lore of the first age, and the forbidden secrets of the Primordials themselves. Unfortunately their ambitions blinded them to the dangers of these powers and led them to call on ancient forces to great for them to control.

They awoke a creature older than the Primordials, a creature sealed away by the Primordials before the forming of Creation itself.  The history of this destructive force and five others like it had been hidden by the Primordials in eons past, a dark secret they had hoped would never be seen again.  These creatures were known as the Old Ones and it was the weakest of the six that had been roused and brought into creation by the folly of the Lawgivers. 

The entity known as Bytall arose from it's sleeping prison and descended upon Creation with unrivalled hatred seeking vengeance upon everything in existence.  It's very presence warped and twisted reality turning creation into a living nightmare, forged of insanity and malevolence. It enslaved the mortal world within hours and turned it's hundred eyes to the conquest of Yu-Shan, the Underworld, and Malfeas within days. 

Suddenly all of Creation and beyond had a common enemy, and it was this force that brought all of the exalted, gods, demons and ghosts together to fight along side one another.  Creation had not seen a fighting force like this since the fall of the Primordials, and unlike then, this army was forged for the destruction of just one being. The reign of Bytall lasted only five years, but the impact of it's presence was catastrophic.  The destruction of Bytall cost millions of mortal lives, thousands of terrestrial exalted and more than half of the celestial exalted in existence, and when it was over the world was in ruin.

The landscape of Creation had been forever changed, and people have came to call this new world Odyum.
